Software Requests

How to request IT Software from Durham University

The previous CIS software request process has now been streamlined so that users will only need to request software services via CIS Self-Service Portal. The request will go directly to the required team within CIS to action dependent on the form completed. You will be able to track all stages of the request process via your service request.

The new forms located in the self-service portal: Link

  • Any new software requests
  • Any Software Upgrades that would require a new purchase
  • Any Software Maintenance and Support Contract Renewals

Free or Open-Source Software Request

This is for any software that is deemed “free” that is requested to be downloaded to a University device or installed on Appsanywhere, Linux Server, any network device.

3rd Party Add-In Requests

This is only to allow for a 3rd party application or software add-in to have access to your DU Personal account to allow it to be used alongside the Zoom or O365 Application. Non-Personal accounts will not be considered, and requests are not guaranteed to be approved as all potential permissions will need to be verified by the CIS Security team. Please note that any Add-ins that may require additional costs should first be discussed with your Department’s IT business partner or purchased through the “Software Purchase Request” form.

All Software apart from those funded by a research project, consultancy, incentivisation funds or project cost centre will come from the Durham University CIS Software budget

Therefore, all requests will be reviewed in terms of budget, technical, legal and security compliance and are not guaranteed to be approved.
