Webcams in lecture theatres
At the meeting of Teaching and Learning Committee on 25 April 2005 it was agreed and subsequently approved by Senate to authorise the installation of web-cams to provide remote support for AV equipment and to enable CIS to check room usage to facilitate maintenance with the following provisos:
(a) that the web-cams would not have an audio-feed and therefore could not record lectures. They were not security cameras and would not be monitored for security purposes; nor could they be used for video-streaming lectures between lectures rooms;
(b) that the web-cams would be used to monitor room usage and to identify times when maintenance could be carried out;
(c) that the cameras were inexpensive and would be installed as part of the planned refurbishments;
