UEC has decided to stop providing local administrative capabilities for users of the CIS Managed Desktop Service. This is to help us better manage our GDPR obligations and reduce our exposure to cyber-attacks. Running as local admin increases the risk of the PC or wider network being affected by viruses and malware.
It is acknowledged that certain users of the managed desktop service may require elevated privileges in extenuating circumstances.
If you believe you justify elevated privileges, please complete the online form.
CIS recommends Audited Self-Elevation (ASE) where necessary, in place of local admin rights. ASE fulfills all known requirements for administrative privileges.
If you have already justified and been provided with ASE privileges, there is guidance available on how to perform common tasks here.
