Mark Osborne

Dr Mark Osborne is Manager of Integrated Subsurface Description and Modelling at BP in Sunbury.

Mark has a BSc Hons. in Geology from Edinburgh University (1989) and a PhD from the University of Glasgow (1994), Following graduation, he worked for three years as a postdoctoral researcher at Durham University investigating the origin and distribution of extreme overpressure in Fulmar Formation reservoirs of the Central North Sea.

Mark subsequently joined BP where he has worked continuously for the last 17 years. Working in Exploration, he has been involved in several discoveries, including the supergiant Shah Deniz gas field in Azerbaijan. As a technical Advisor in Petroleum Systems, he supported E&P globally and managed a portfolio of R&D projects related to basin modelling, organic geochemistry and unconventional resources. He currently leads a large team of Applied Geologists working on reservoir development issues globally across BP.
