External Catering
If you require catering within a University central room or Department, please refer to our Internal Delivered Catering page in the first instance.
If there is no availability through Internal Delivered catering, the university has developed a framework of external buffet suppliers for use within University central rooms or for your Department (however not for centrally bookable teaching space or colleges).
This framework includes C & P Northern Company Limited (known as The Cheese & Pickle), Collins Fine Foods,The Picnic Basket, Bespoke, and Olivia’s Kitchen who have signed up to the university’s supplier terms & conditions and Food Allergen Policy (including non-supply of unpackaged peanuts and tree nuts.) They have also supplied essential documentation including; local authority food business registration, HACCP food safety management system, food safety training details, and liability insurance documents.
When placing your booking, it is the department representative's responsibilty to re-iterate to the supplier Durham Univertity's Food Allergen Policy, and ensure on delivery all information regarding the 14 food allergens (detailed on point 4.1b of the Food Allergen Policy) is provided.
Your department representative must also ensure adequate timings for delivery are met for food safety reasons: cold food can be displayed for service for maximum of 2 hours. After this time, food must be discarded.

We require a minimum order for 10 people for a buffet order, but we have no maximum number - we can cater to as many people as you need.

Vegan and Gluten free guests can be catered for. We have a wide range of options from our suppliers so can offer the same menu as the rest of the guests.
What is your cut off time for next day deliveries?
For next day delivery, please order before 3pm the day before your buffet is required.
What is the minimum/maximum number of people you can cater a buffet for?
We require a minimum order for 4 people for a buffet order.
For cold buffets, we can cater to as many orders as you need. We have support from another caterer to supply large scale hot buffets, however maximum orders for hot buffets will very much depend upon the menu and resource available.
How do I order my buffet?
- First, please set up an account with Olivia's Kitchen: Register Account - Olivia's Kitchen (olivias-kitchen.co.uk)
- Once set up you can log in to your account with Olivia's Kitchen and start placing orders
- All menu items required are to be added to your basket before completing your order
- Enter 'PO' in Purchase Order Reference (if paying by card enter 'Card Payment' in the Purchase Order Reference box).
- Select your delivery address, date and time
- Checkout and confirm
You will recieve a confirmation email for your order. Any amendments to your order can be made at any point online up until 12.00 the day before delivery.
Do you accept payment by Credit Card?
Yes we do, our invoices are sent over by email on the day of delivery and there is a "pay now" link within the email where a credit card can be processed online.
Does the menu prices offered include VAT?
No - our menu prices do not include VAT.

We require a minimum order value of £20 per order.
The maximum number of orders we can supply is 100 people per event.
