Links with Business & Industry
The Research Commercialisation team has built up links with local and national companies and businesses who utilise University Intellectual Property.
Companies looking for Intellectual Property are welcome to look at our available technologies for licensing or may want to collaborate or use the services of one of Durham's spinout companies. If you would like to know more please contact one our Technology Transfer Managers.
As part of our core activity we maintain links with service providers including:
- Patent Agents
- Legal Firms
- Investors in Technology / Technology Brokers / Enterprise Agencies
- County Durham Development Company
- NetPark (Incubator & Net)
- NHS Innovation Hub
- RTC North
When staff are looking to protect or exploit Intellectual Property we will steer them in the right direction of an appropriate service provider.
We work closely alongside the Business Engagement Team and Research Office to advise on relevant local and regional business support agencies. We also provide assistance to staff and students looking to access Proof of Concept (POC) and other funding options.
Through Durham's Blueprint (student) business planning competition and associated training events, we engage with business mentors and sponsors to enhance the enterprise skills of many of our graduates. A range of local and some national business services and support agencies are also engaged at the Regional Level of Blueprint: The North East Universities Business Planning Competition, involving both staff and students from each of the 5 North East Universities of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside.
