Our new gallery is part of the redeveloped Palace Green Library, at the heart of the World Heritage Site in Durham. The research collections are housed in a separate location within easy walking distance of the gallery in the Old Fulling Mill. The information in this section is intended to help visitors find the gallery and to direct researchers to our storage and research facilities.

Durham Book Festival

The Museum of Archaeology space will be restricted to visitors between 11th and 14th October due to Durham Book Festival events.

Short Closure and Restricted Access - Museum of Archaeology

The Museum of Archaeology will be closed from 15th – 21st October 2018 for essential maintenance.

Between 22nd October until 18th November there will be no lift access to the Museum.

The postcode for our gallery in Palace Green Library is DH1 3RN. The postcode for our stores in the Old Fulling Mill is DH1 3EB. Parking at both sites is restricted. The nearest public carpark is the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre: postcode DH1 3UJ.


Opening hours and admission

The gallery is open Monday, 12 – 5pm and Tuesday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm.
