Silent study area noise levels

Postby wbqt83 » 15 Oct 2010, 14:08

The policy of a silent study area is rather loosely enforced. The fact that it seems acceptable for students to chat away, and there being no monitoring of these area, leaves a lot to be desired.

Unfortunately we do not have the staffing levels to regularly monitor all areas of the Library. On most occasions we find that students respect the level of noise appropriate for areas, but we appreciate that on some occasions a minority of users do not respect the rules of the library and disrupt others.

If you have problems in future with the levels of noise in silent areas please report this to library staff with specifics on the location within the library (e.g. silent area on level 3). If you are able to speak to a member of staff immediately or use the Meebo Instant Messaging widget on the Library homepage we may be able to deal with the issue as it is happening. If you are not able to do this do use our online enquiry form, or the paper form, to report instances, again with specifics on location and time of day if possible so we can collate these reports and take further appropriate action.
