Will you send items to my local public/university library?

Aside from specific item requests from members of other university or public libraries, we do not have an arrangement to send Durham University books to other libraries for collection.

If you are a part-time or distance-learning student, you can request to be sent photocopies of articles and chapters of books which are held in the Library but are unavailable electronically. We would also suggest joining one of the reciprocal access schemes that the Library belongs to, which will allow you to use academic libraries around the country.

If you are not a member of Durham University, you can request the book you require at your local public library through the national inter-library loan scheme, but please bear in mind that there will be a charge for this service and the item could take some time to arrive. Similarly, if you are a member of another university, most Library items can be requested through the document delivery service at your institution. Alternatively, you are welcome to visit Durham University Library to consult the item on a reference-only basis.
