What does the catalogue status 'in transit' mean?

If the words 'in transit' appear under the 'status' heading in the catalogue record for the item you want to borrow, the book is being moved from one library location to another. This is generally a short-term status, e.g. for books being transferred via the intersite loan service. Please consult Library staff if the item status remains 'in transit' for more than 3 days.
