Facilities
Durham X-ray Centre provides a wide range of x-ray analytical techniques available in Durham. In addition to this, many members of the Centre are regular users of national and international x-ray synchrotron sources. The facilities in Durham are available to external users either as part of an academic collarboration or through a commercial framework. Please contact the relevant personnel for details. The main techniques available in Durham are:
- Single crystal structure determination (Chemistry)
- Protein crystal structure determination (Chemistry)
- High flux single crystal x-ray diffraction (Physics)
- X-ray reflectivity (multilayer and thin film samples) (Physics)
- X-ray powder diffraction (Chemistry)
- X-ray microtomography (in development) (Engineering)
- X-ray wide angle (WAXS) and small angle scattering (SAXS) for polymers (Chemistry)
In addition we have strong links with other research groups throughout the Science Faculty to combine analytical and sample preparation techniques.
If you are an external user Durham University, access to use these facilities can be arranged through Analytical Services.
