Prof John Morill On Scholarly Editing

We are pleased to invite you to a workshop to be led by Prof John Morrill (University of Cambridge), On Scholarly Editing. John Morrill FBA, Professor of British and Irish History at the University of Cambridge, is an enormously experienced academic editor.

He is currently the General Editor of The Writings and Speeches of Oliver Cromwell, a project which has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Grant and will be published by Oxford University Press. He was one of the investigators for the collaborative 1641 Depositions project, which has published online the witness testimonies of those involved in the Irish Rebellion of 1641. He conceived and ran the project to create the electronic RHS Bibliography of British History, now online as The Bibliography of British and Irish History, and he has served on the editorial boards of numerous other projects, including The Entring Book of Roger Morrice. This session, intended for staff and students in the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies, will reflect on the nature and pitfalls of scholarly editing.
