Ustinov College Café des Arts presents: “In Conversation with Fenwick Lawson”

26th May 2013, 18:15, Fisher House, Ustinov College, South Road

Join our artist-in-residence Alan O'Cain for a lively, entertaining and relaxed discussion with one of Britain's most esteemed sculptors, Fenwick Lawson.

Fenwick Lawson was born in the small Durham mining community of South Moor in 1932 and was tutored at the Royal Academy by Jacob Epstein. He has lived and worked in the region for most of his life and his sculptures in wood and bronze can be found throughout the city of Durham and the North East. He has works in many private and public collections including The Vatican. Fenwick's entertaining stories range from tales of a wild North-Eastern childhood through to meetings with some of the great names of modern British art. This event will feature an opportunity to see and hear about Fenwick's group sculpture "The Weeping Women" which has been newly cast into bronze and which will be brought into the college especially for the evening.
