'The 39 Steps' - by John Buchan and Alfred Hitchcock

The Assembly Rooms Theatre, North Bailey, Durham

Thursday 1st - Saturday 3rd November
Kronos Productions presents a melodramatic adaption of Alfred Hitchcock’s espionage thriller, 'The 39 Steps' which promises to be one of the highlights of Durham’s theatre calendar year.

'THE 39 STEPS’ follows the dashingly handsome, Richard Hannay, who, after meeting Annabella Schmidt at a London theatre, is plunged head first into an adventure that will see him being chased by the police for a murder he did not commit, whilst he himself pursues a mysterious spy organization he, admittedly, knows nothing about.

Will Hannay save the day and stop top-secret documents from leaving the country? Will he clear himself of murder? Can he really be that good looking?

With 4 actors playing over 139 roles in under 100 minutes, the play relies heavily on it’s ambitious script, which has gone on to win 2 Tony Awards and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, amongst others.
