Illumination:More than Just the Sum of their Parts
Contemporary artworks on vellum by Judith Hurst in collaboration with John Hurst.
Judith Hurst uses the age old techniques of manuscript illumination to capture the world of the North East Coast, and its relationship to history over many centuries.
Observing connections with the patterns of nature, Hurst depicts the eddies and currents of water as tides change, the movements of seaweed and marine life, and the textures of sand, rocks and pebbles. Humans have expressed and recognised these eternal patterns over the centuries in many ways: in the curves and swirls of Celtic and Islamic images, and the explorations within the fields of science and mathematics.
Exhibition open daily from 9.30am-6pm until August 31st.
