Durham University: London 2 Istanbul
This summer, 14 students from Durham University will be undertaking a challenge of a lifetime - 14 students, 5000km , 60 days, 12 countries - All in the name of charity, the goal is to cycle from London to Istanbul (Turkey) in 8 weeks.
Spanning more than 3000 miles, this student led expedition will cross some of the most inhospitable European terrain in average temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius
.Every team member has stong personal connections with at least one of their four chosen charities, which are:
- The ABF: Soldiers' Charity
- The Meningitis Trust
- Unseen (uk)
- The Cancer Care and Haematology Unit: Stoke Mandeville
With a collective team target of £18,000 that will be split evenly across the four charities, the team has organised a number of fundraising events across north east England over the course of the next 5 months.
