Durham Castle Guided Tours

Durham Castle

Durham Castle is open to visitors by guided tour which takes approximately 45 minutes. There will be guided tours at 10am, 11am and 12noon today.

Tickets for tours are available from Palace Green Library, situated between the Castle and Cathedral, also from the World Heritage Site Visitors Centre.

Group bookings for parties of 10 or more must be booked in advance by contacting:

Durham Castle, commissioned by King William the Conqueror around 1072, is the home of University College, founding College of Durham University. The Castle has had an extremely interesting history as the home of the Prince Bishops of Durham until 1837, a halls of residence for University students and an accredited museum.
