Canaletto

The Annual Art Fund Lecture - 'A Celebration of Venice'.

5th March 2012, 10:30 to 15:00, The Bowes Museum

This event has been arranged to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the acquisition by the Museum, with assistance from the Art Fund, of two large-scale paintings by Canaletto.  The event will take the form of four short talks presenting various aspects of 18th century Venetian artistic society given by speakers from Durham University together with a short presentation from Elizabeth Conran, former Director of the museum, who oversaw the campaign to acquire the paintings.  It is the first event at the museum since the signing of an agreement of cultural, educational and scholarly cooperation between the University and the Museum.

Monday March 5th at 10.30 am followed by lectures and lunch to finish about 3.00 pm.
