Beginners Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs

17th January 2012, 19:00 to 21:00, Repeated weekly until 20th March 2012, Elvet Riverside Room 146, Durham Univesrity

A nine week course designed to give an introduction to Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs. Egyptian temples and tombs are covered in Egyptian picture-writing. The script contains the ideas, rituals and religious beliefs of the Egyptians for over three thousand years. At the end of the course, you will be able to recognise and understand a basic number of the signs and what they mean. Begin to unlock the mysteries of the past for yourself!

No previous knowledge is necessary.

When: Tuesdays – nine weeks beginning 17th January 2012, from 7.00 to 9.00 pm.

Instructors: Dr Penny Wilson and Heba Abd-el-Gawad

Cost: £20, £15 for students and concessions.
