Jill Campbell - Ebb and Flow Art Exhibtion
30th April - 1st June
This exhibition will present up to 30 paintings by local artist Jill Campbell. Jill, a member of Teesdale Artist's network since 2008, is studying fine art at Sunderland University. Over the last five years she has regularly shown her work in County Durham and also, as part of the Teesdale Artist's Network Open Studio scheme, opens her studio to the public every year in September. This will be her first solo exhibition.
Jill resumed painting in 2005 after moving to the North East and being inspired by the beautiful countryside here. She uses photography, Photoshop, and drawing as a starting point for developing a painting in the studio, using watercolour, oil or mixed media techniques.
Referring to her colourful, landscape inspired, abstract paintings Jill says "I have used the landscape surrounding where I live in Lynesack and on the moorland around Woodland and Hamsterley as the inspiration for my work. I have called the exhibition Ebb and Flow as I see it as describing the painting process as well as the fluidity of nature. Although based on landscape, my work is not intended to be a copy of what I see. Rather it expresses my experience of the environment, my recreation of moments of being in the world. My work is heavily influenced by 'place'."
