Durham Business Ambassadors

This programme aims to raise awareness of career opportunities, employability skills and the various progression routes available to young people to help them prepare for the world of work. Business Ambassadors are asked to assist with approximately 3-activities per year in schools, and events may include enterprise activities, mock interviews and even a ‘You’re Hired..You’re Fired’ activity game. All Business Ambassadors are given full training and activities will be delivered alongside Durham County Council staff and teachers.

We’re looking for University staff members from all departments to become Business Ambassadors. Have you ever considered volunteering as a trustee for a local charity?

We are looking into running this event in the near future if it is of interest to you send an email to community.engagement@durham.ac.uk

This session will provide a simple guide to being a trustee, committee member or a volunteer of a charitable organisation. It is relevant to anyone who has considered being on a committee of a charity, or has been for some time, to understand the roles and responsibilities and to ensure that governance of the organisation is carried out properly to reduce the risk of personal and organisational liability. It is also relevant to anyone who would like to volunteer for a charitable organisation and the role that you could play as well as providing insight into the things that you would need to know.

The session will provide a practical guide to being part of a charitable group or organisation and how you can learn to be an active participant by knowing what to do and what not to do and will provide opportunity for questions and discussion so that if you are a volunteer, or want to be, you have the information you need to be a good one.
