The refurbishment of the third floor kitchen in the Deerness block was completed in October 2011. The improvement works included:
- New work surfaces and cupboards
- New ovens (x2), extractors (x2), hobs (x8) and sinks (x2)
- Increased food preparation and storage space
- A dishwasher
