Chaplaincy
Van Mildert's Chaplain is Paul Regan, who shares his time between both Van Mildert and Trevelyan Colleges.
About Paul
I come from a variety of places because my father was in the army. After doing a Ph.D in History at Southampton University, I read Theology and trained for the Anglican ministry in Durham and then spent ten years in parish ministry in St. Albans and in some villages near Wolverhampton and Dudley. I am married to Sarah and we have two little girls whom you may see wandering about the college on occasions.
What does a Chaplain do?
Most people probably have little idea what a chaplain is and does so here goes. I am an ordained Christian (Anglican) priest who is appointed to serve all members of the college, staff as well as students, whatever background or views they may have about faith, spirituality and religion. To that end, I have a supportive role in the welfare system in the college, I hope to organise some faith activities and I will also help run some other clubs such as a Book Club. You are very welcome to come and chat about anything and/or simply enjoy a cup of coffee. As I am also chaplain at Trevelyan College, the Lead Anglican Chaplain across the university and an Assistant Priest at a city centre church, I am out and about a lot so if you want to contact me, send me an email or come along on Tuesday mornings from 9-11.
