Study Spaces

In the dedicated Postgraduate Centre located in Deerness Block, Postgraduates have access to computer work stations. At Van Mildert, Postgraduates also share a range of study spaces with Undergraduates as shown below.

Our Library

Open daily: Providing books, internet access and some peace and quiet.

• Stocks most core text books, together with supporting reading and a wide-ranging reference section.
• Students interested in helping run the library can join the library committee. 
• Offers 24-hour access. Academic texts only available when library is staffed.
• Open for lending weekdays 9am - 11am; 1pm - 5pm; 7pm - 10pm. Weekends afternoons and evenings dependent upon demand.
• 20 books can be borrowed at one time for a whole term.
• Library textbooks are in our automated catalogue making borrowing easy, and enabling you to check which books are available by logging into the database of the University Library.

Our Kent Room

• Located opposite the library, provides a large and varied fiction library.
• Provides comfortable seating, two laptop computers and a place to unwind with a good book.
• 24-hour access.

Our Computer Room

Offers laser-printing, high-speed internet access and all the latest software.

• 30+ PCs with Windows XP.
• High-speed laser printer and scanning facilities.
• All rooms have broadband internet if you have your own PC.
• Specialist software/ databases installed on all systems.
