Events

Undertaking a postgraduate degree can be a very different experience to that of an undergraduate course, with more flexible and often longer hours, intense periods of study and a greater proportion of your time being spent within Durham itself. As such, the MCR aims to provide a broad range of social support for everyone, both in and out of College, whether new to the University or not, throughout the year. 

The MCR provides a range of social activities, ranging from regular formal dinners, seminars, lectures, wine tastings and meals out in Durham city to more relaxing night in with a film or summer BBQ. In addition to events provided by the MCR, postgraduate students within Van Mildert have the opportunity to take part in a series of intercollegiate events, whether they be Inter-MCR Formal Dinners or academic events such as the Hill Colleges West Research Forum, hosted in Mildert in 2013.

The MCR is also involved in raising money for charities, with the Van Mildert Inter-MCR Formal dinners raising substantial donations for local and national organisations.
