How to find Ustinov College
We are no. 52 on the University map.
By rail
14 trains per day travel from London and Edinburgh to Durham. The journey takes less than three hours from London, one and a half hours from Edinburgh and forty-five minutes from York.
By bus
There are several express coach services daily from most major cities. Durham is well served by both regional express services and the local bus network. From the city bus station - a short walk from the railway station - a bus service runs every 15 minutes past the Colleges on South Road. The PR2 Service (Park and Ride) runs through Durham city centre and up to Howlands Farm, where Ustinov College is situated. The bus sign will say 'Howlands' as it's destination.
By road
From the South
Drive north on the A1(M) and exit at Junction 61. Take the A177 signposted for Bowburn. Follow the road for approximately three miles until you reach Stockton Road. Turn left at the traffic lights onto South Road and continue driving up the hill, passing turnings for Grey and Collingwood Colleges until you reach a set of traffic lights with a sign to your left for Josephine Butler and Ustinov Colleges. Take that left turn and continue straight up the drive way towards the red brick buildings in the distance. Ustinov College car park is on your right about halfway up the drive way (we share a car park with Josephine Butler College so please do ensure that you park in the indicated 'Ustinov' section of the car park - if you have any queries over this, please do just ask at our Porters Lodge reception and they can provide assistance as they issue your visitors parking permit.)
From the North
Drive south on the A1(M) and exit at Junction 62, A690 signposted for Durham and Consett. Turn left at the roundabout and follow the New Elvet road. Continue until you reach a fork in the road and take the road to the right onto Church Street. Drive straight ahead at the traffic lights at South Road and continue on Stockton Road for about half a mile. Turn left at the sign for Josephine Butler and Ustinov Colleges and follow the instructions given above.
By air
The nearest airports are Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley. Newcastle airport is also linked to Durham by rail. A taxi will cost approx £35 one way, depending on the company used.
