Ustinov College Graduate Common Room
Graduate Common Room
The Ustinov College Graduate Common room is run by the student members of the College. It is the equivalent of the JCR (Junior Common Room) or MCR (Middle Common Room) in other colleges.
All students who accept membership of Ustinov College are automatically members of the Graduate Common Room. There is a small fee, currently £25 per year (2010-2011), for membership. This is used to help support events, student clubs and other services for college members.
The Graduate Common Room is the student representative body for Ustinov college members. The Committee meets regularly, and all students, whether they live in or live out of College, are encouraged to become involved in running and/or enjoying student events. The Graduate Common Room also runs the bars, social events and entertainment, and helps organise sports clubs and societies.
Fisher House at Howlands Farm is where you can find the bar, and is also where many live football games and other sporting events are shown. All the profits from the bar are used to provide better facilities for students – to improve the bar areas, and help finance other activities such as the Ustinov College Annual Ball, the Summer BBQ, and some other special projects.
The Graduate Common Room also provides help to many of the Ustinov College clubs and societies. There's the Boat Club, the Cricket Club, the Film Club, Ustinov College football team, the Hellenic Society, and many others.
