Choosing University College
We encourage you to nominate a preferred college using one of the UCAS college codes in your UCAS application. The college you choose will not in any way affect your chances of getting an offer from the University; that decision is made by your academic department. If you prefer not to select a college, the University can select one for you on your behalf. This is known as making an open application.
After your academic department has made a decision on whether the University can make you an offer, your application will be forwarded to the college of your choice. If your first choice college cannot make an offer your application will be passed to an alternative college, or in the case of an open application the University will allocate a college for you.
If you would like to choose University College as your preferred college, please do this by entering "DUR/U" in the appropriate place on your UCAS form.
Gaining a place in this College is dependent on academic merit and on the contribution we think you can make to our community, based on your personal statement.
