University College rower wins Gold at the Paralympics

(3 September 2012)

University College student Lily van den Broecke won Gold at the Paralympic Games yesterday as part of the Great Britain mixed coxed four team.

Lily, who is reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics at University College, was cox of the winning boat, beating rivals Germany by 2 seconds in the final.

Lily and fellow team mates David Smith, James Roe, Naomi Riches, and Pam Relph add the Paralympic success to the world title that they won together in Bled last year.

The medal brings the Olympic summer to a successful end for Great Britain, with the gold on the final day making this year the most successful ever for Team GB Rowing.

Huge congratualtions to Lily and the team!
