University College Student Ben Rowarth to have Award Winning Composition Performed at Durham Cathedral
(31 May 2012)
University College Student Ben Rowarth is to have his composition, 'Where is Thy God?' performed at Durham Cathedral on Saturday 2nd June.
Ben, who recently won the National Centre for Early Music Composer's Award 2012, is a second-year Music student and Choral Scholar at University College.
Ben's success in the 18-25 category came in the face of stiff competition from across the UK. The competition asked young composers living in the UK to write a work of between three and four minutes in length for The Tallis Scholars, based upon the 'In Nomine' theme from John Taverner’s Missa Gloria Tibi Trinitas.
The winning pieces are to be perfomed by the renowned Tallis Scholars in Durham Cathedral, at 7.30pm on Saturday 2nd June. They are to be joined by Durham Cathedral Choir.
Tickets are available from the Gala box office, at www.galadurham.co.uk, or 0191 332 4041.
Many congratulations to Ben on his success!
