Music

Durham University has a long musical tradition, giving you the chance to engage with music of all kinds and levels during your studies, whether you're based in Durham City or at Queen's Campus.
As you might expect, the sheer wealth of musical talent at the University means there is something for everyone - from Chamber Choir to Light Opera, Big Band to Orchestra. Many of our colleges have their own choirs, orchestras and music societies too, so there is plenty of opportunity to get involved and have a go, whatever your level!
All student theatre at Durham is student-led and manged with the support of Experience Durham and Durham Students' Union.
A year-round musical programme
Durham University boasts a year-round musical programme, catering for every taste. Many concerts and performances are organised and performed by students. So whether you're a musician, singer or a spectator, looking for something familiar or wanting to try something new, teh sheer range of opportunities to get involved mean that you won't be disappointed.
Underpinning our musical excellence is the Department of Music, one of the leading centres for the study of music in Britain. The Department runs Musicon, the University's public concert series. Musicon organises 12 public concerts per year across various venues by internationally acclaimed artists in the fields of classical music, jazz, musical theatre, world music and contemporary music.
Tees Music Alliance (TMA) is a not-for-profit organisation operating for the benefit of musicians, their audiences, supporting industries and community groups. Through TMA you will find information on the Green Dragon Studios, The Georgian Theatre and Stockton's annual summer event Fringe Festival and is an ideal venue for budding artistes.Tees Music Alliance
