Support for extra-curricular activities
At Durham University we believe that all students should be able to benefit from the opportunities for personal development offered by university life, regardless of their financial circumstances. Thanks to the generosity of our alumni we are able to provide small awards to eligible students who wish to become involved in extra-curricular activities such as student sport, student societies, the arts and voluntary work either in Durham or overseas, but who cannot afford to do so. In these instances students can apply to the following Durham University funds:
The Durham University Arts Management Group
The group aims to provide support to individual students and groups of students who wish to undertake ventures in any of the branches of the arts, for example theatrical and musical productions, photographic exhibitions, arts magazines etc.
Students who wish to make an individual application for assistance to further their talent or skill, for example with singing/instrumental lessons, acting masterclasses, photography, creative writing courses etc. should complete the individual application form below.
Groups of students who wish to apply for assistance with theatre productions, arts publications, exhibitions etc should complete the group application form below. Please note that due to the limited funds available, group awards are usually made in the form of Guarantees Against Loss or a Loan. Please note if you have previously received a loan or guarantee against loss for a production or event you must submit your final accounts before you can submit another application for support.
Please ensure that you provide all the relevant information with your application form. Your application form and your references must be received by Wednesday 1st May 2013.
Please contact scholarships.advice@durham.ac.uk or 0191 334 6143 if you have any queries.

A significant amount of the funding available to students to support their extra-curricular interests and personal development has been made possible from the generous donations of the University's Alumni. To ensure that this support continues in the future current students are needed to work on the Annual Giving Programme's telephone fundraising campaign. If you would be interested in giving your time to help future students, and in return gain some valuable experience and earn some cash, please contact Development and Alumni Relations (www.dunelm.org.uk).
