Computing and Information Services

Computing and Information Services support and maintain the University’s IT facilities and when you come to study at Durham University you will benefit from a comprehensive range of IT services to support your studies. These include a University network providing access to the internet, an online learning environment housing your course materials and notes and a University email account.
Access to our network is never far away: each college bedroom has a network point for connecting your laptop or PC to, and our wireless network is widely available in locations spread across the University (for laptop and mobile device connection). We also have an extensive network of open access PCs which are available 24-hours a day providing a range of networked services (internet, email, etc) as well as standard and academic software and printer services. In addition, Durham University Online (duo), is our dedicated online learning environment, giving you a personalised repository for your learning materials and innovative ways of supporting communication between you and your colleagues.
Should you need advice or support, our IT Service Desk will be your first port of call for queries about University-provided IT, and they are available via phone, email or face-to-face visit. You also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of future IT services in the University by standing for the position of IT Rep for your college and actively participating in promoting the views of your fellow students at our regular IT forum.
