+Can I bring my car?

Car parking is very limited in both Durham City and at Queen's Campus, and at individual colleges. In addition, Durham and Stockton are relatively small with excellent national and local public transport making it easy to travel on foot or via rail and buses, and a free inter-campus bus runs between Durham City and Queen's Campus.

In view of this, the University discourages students from bringing their cars to Durham City and Queen's Campus.

However, if you have a special reason for bringing your car, you can apply through your college for a student car parking permit to park at your College and / or for a University parking permit to park at other University sites.

Please note however that a permit does not guarantee a parking space within the University and at Queen's Campus students are not permitted to park in the main campus car park.

Special reasons include disability or holding positions of responsibility within your college or the University where transport is required.

All postgraduate students can apply for a college parking permit, which may be issued if space is available but again are strongly encouraged to use public transport wherever possible.
