FAQs
Can I stay in my college over the Christmas and Easter vacations?
At Queen's Campus your residence charge automatically includes Christmas and Easter vacations. You can therefore stay over the vacations and leave your belongings in your room. You must however make sure you have adequate insurance for your belongings. The University is not responsible for their safety or security.
Undergraduates:
In Durham City, most of our colleges offer an 'extended let' option for the Christmas and Easter vacations. Students are allowed to stay over the vacation only in those colleges which offer this option. Please note that opting for the extended let does not guarantee you will be able to remain in your usual term-time room: you may be relocated to another room for the vacation period.
Postgraduates:
At the postgraduate level, all colleges offer 50 week lets (40 week for PGCE) and most students can remain in their rooms all year. You should check with your preferred college whether you will need to temporarily move at Christmas and Easter.
