Guinnerso - Sampling the Landscape

The relict landscape of Guinnerso is located behind the high sea cliffs on the west side of the Aird Uig Peninsula, half way between the townships of Aird Uig (to the north) and Crowlista (to the south-east). Many features associated with this landscape have been identified, including possible kerbed and chambered cairns and a number of cellular structures. The date and nature of these features was unknown with speculation ranging form Bronze Age through to Medieval. Excavations concentrated on the large cellular structures to the south of the dried loch bed of Loch Ruadh Guinnerso, though several other features in the landscape were sampled and examined.
