Half Colours! (DEADLINE 28TH FEB)

Do you know anyone who has contributed lots to college over their time at Durham? Do they deserve recognition for all their hard work? Nominate them for half colours!

Half colours are awarded every year at Handover Formal. These awards are given to exceptional individuals (typically finalists) who have made an outstanding contribution to college or university life in any way, whilst at Trevs.

I'm now accepting applications - nomination forms are available on the website and the deadline is the 28th February.

Special Projects

The deadline for Special Projects is 1st March. Please email applications to ileana.lund@durham.ac.uk or put a completed form in the exec pigeonhole. Attached is a guide to applying and the form. They are also under JCR - documents on the website.

Special projects allocates bar profits to applications from JCR societies or individuals to support wider College cultural and sporting activities. Applications are not normally considered for running costs and maintenance items. Previous successful applications include gym equipment, a hockey goalie kit and a baritone saxophone.

So does your society need something or do you have an idea that would benefit the JCR? Apply to special projects!

College vs College Recycling Competition

From now till the end of term, every college will go head to head to compete for the ‘Golden Recycling Box’ trophy for the biggest proportion of waste recycled and to avoid the ignominy of the ‘Wooden Wheelie Bin’ for the worst result. There’s also a prize for most improved college. www.dur.ac.uk/environment/slag/goldenbox is full of posters, facts and statistics to arm yourself with to help tackle waste. Anyone can download and use these to help their college get to the top. Any questions? Contact Chris Bliss your Ecology rep.

Currently Trevs is joint 3rd place along with Hatfield, not far behind the leaders Hild Bede. So please make that little bit of effort to help Trevs win the trophy.

To show your support join the Facebook Group - 'Help Trevs Win the Golden Recycling Box Trophy'.”

College clean up

As there is quite a lot of litter in the college grounds, the Grounds Committee will be doing a clean up next Thursday at 4. If anyone would like to help or find out more about the Grounds Committee (which doesn't
just do litter picking) then you are very welcome to join us. We'll meet on the cobbles at 4.
