College Events

The variety of social events in Trevs caters for all tastes. Our hexagonal college bar hosts regular theme nights, ranging from 70's Disco to Chill Out and Jazz nights. It has a great, friendly atmosphere and is a relaxing place to spend the evening.
Formal dinners on alternate Thursdays are a chance to dress up and take a break from work. These are the most popular social events amongst the students - perhaps because they are so often.

The largest social events in the year are the Informal Ball, traditionally a fancy dress affair, and the formal Summer Ball. The whole college is transformed with decorations. Following a special dinner, the night is packed with music, entertainment, games and fun things ranging from bouncy castles to mini golf and chocolate fountains! The Balls really are the highlight of the college year! A year in Trevs would not be complete without a day devoted to ourselves and every year in the post-exam de-stress we celebrate 'Trevs Day' a day of fun, frivolity and, most importantly, Trevs Pride.

Throughout the year, there are also college bops, musical productions and plays, nights out to Newcastle and Leeds, and day trips to such places as paint-balling and Alton Towers. For the musicians in college, there are classical concerts and Trevs Unplugged, at which anyone can stand up to sing or play, regardless of talent. There are many opportunities for students to get involved with college events, including DJ-ing, making decorations, and helping with the technical side of things.
Durham Events
If college is having a quiet night, it is only a short walk down the hill to Durham Student Union. This venue has a bar, cafe and several large rooms used for society meetings and events. Regular nights here include: Legends - classic film nights, The Cooler - band showcases, Back-to-School parties, "I Can't Believe its Not Cheese" Indie/Rock nights, R+B nights, the ever popular 'Planet of Sound' Friday dance nights, and many other events.
In Durham, there are plenty of bars catering for students, and several nightclubs. DH1 and Walkabout bar are arguably the best, playing mainstream chart music. The city centre is bustling, and packed with shops, restaurants and pubs. The Gala theatre gets many top quality music, drama and comedy acts and also shows films.
Newcastle Events
Newcastle is just a 10-minute train ride away and is the place to go for the most up to date leisure and culture. There is a clutch of excellent art galleries and just across the river the newly opened Sage concert hall, which is host to the country's top orchestras. Newcastle has a vast range of clubs, bars and restaurants, which match those of any city, and is great for shopping. All the top rock bands, pop bands and individual performers can be seen at the Metro Radio Arena and Newcastle and Northumbria student unions. The Metrocentre in Gateshead is a shopping/dining/cinema/bowling experience not to be missed.
