Pre-Application Open Days
You can get a taste of what Durham University and Trevelyan College has to offer by attending one of our pre-application open days. The University will be offering the following pre-application open days in Durham City 2013:
- Monday, 24 June 2013
- Saturday, 29 June 2013
- Saturday, 21 September 2013
These events will provide an opportunity for those interested in Durham University to gain a real insight into the Durham student experience. Departments, colleges and other support services and facilities will be available for talks, tours and demonstrations. There will be an opportunity to meet our College staff and view our facilities. There is also likely to be a limited amount of University managed accommodation available.
Places will be limited and therefore pre-booking will be required to attend an open day. The booking system will open approximately six weeks in advance of the open days. We do expect our open days to be very busy; you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. For further information please see the University's 'Visit Us' pages.

Mid-afternoon
Arrival and Welcome. Student representatives will be at Durham Railway Station to meet trains in the afternoon. There will be shuttle buses running to the Hill Colleges until 6.00 pm.
Exhibition of College activities
Informal talk with current students
Soft drinks available in the Bar
5.00 pm Talk by the Senior Tutor & Vice-Principal, the Chaplain, a College Mentor and JCR Welfare Officers
5.15 pm Group tours of College with student guides
6.00 pm Dinner (dress informal)
7.00 pm onwards Introduction to Trevelyan College by the Principal and JCR President
8.00 pm Entertainment in College Organised by current students
The Senior Tutor & Vice-Principal will be available to see applicants, should they request it, during the afternoon and the following morning.

8.00 am - 9.00 am Breakfast and then assemble on Cobbles to meet student escorts to Academic Departments
Those wishing to attend the Open Day, but not stay in College should go straight to the Academic Department. For those applicants who will NOT be staying overnight on Monday 18 March and Tuesday 19 March 2013 who wish to see the College the arrangements are given below. No booking is required for these tours.
12.30 pm & 1.30 pm Tour of College by members of the JCR.

College tours
If you are unable to attend a pre-application or post-application open day, we usually run tours at 11.30 am and 3.00 pm each weekday, Monday to Thursday but these must be booked in advance with the Admissions Secretary. Please contact the Admissions Secretary on 0191 334 7057 or email admissions.trevelyan@durham.ac.uk to arrange a tour.
Please note:
- There will be no tours during the week of Congregation (24 June to 30 June 2013)
You are very welcome at any time to visit and collect a brochure and an information sheet from Reception. You can see the Entrance Hall, Bar, Dining Room and other public areas to get some idea of college life. If you are unable to visit in person, the best way of seeing the College is by taking the virtual tour and browsing these web pages. For a taste of student life at Trevelyan, visit the JCR website.

If you receive an offer from the University and are allocated a place at Trevelyan.
All students who receive an offer will be invited to a post-application open day including overnight accommodation in Trevelyan College..
We strongly advise you to take up the offer of coming to the post-application open day as it gives you the opportunity to meet and talk to students, and to experience at first hand a taster of life here. A team of 'Open day' reps will work hard to ensure that you enjoy your visit, and there is also the chance to meet students who will be joining you in Freshers' Week. Trevs is well known for the warmth of the reception we give to new students on arrival, with guaranteed fun and an enthusiastic and willing band of reps to ensure that you settle in comfortably.
You will stay in vacant student rooms and have dinner with us to see what the food is like! In the evening, we will provide you with some entertainment, as you mingle with other people who are all wondering if this is the place for them. The next morning, a rep is assigned to take you down to your department, where you will learn about your course. Then you can go home - hopefully with your decision made - and tell your family all about us! If you are not able to stay the night, student reps will provide a tour of the College on the day of the departmental open day.
