Communities
Junior Common Room
As an undergraduate, you will be a member of the Junior Common Room (JCR), which acts as a focus for all aspects of College life. The JCR is the Trevs community. Our backgrounds, race and creed are as different as the degrees we are studying for.
The communal nature of our building encourages our reputation as a tight-knit, friendly community, which is THE biggest asset we have! Welcome to the place where you can easily have 500 or more friends!
Membership is for life - even after you graduate you remain a Trevelyanite, are kept in contact with through our Alumni Committee, and welcomed back to renew old friendships at Alumni events.
JCR Executive Committee
The JCR Executive Committee (elected by JCR members) is responsible for many College facilities, such as satellite TV, laundries, daily papers, pool table and pantries (kettles, toasters and fridges) and for providing entertainment such as band nights, bops and balls.
Getting Involved
Trevelyan students have always been known for their enthusiastic involvement in the JCR: it always seems more fun when you are involved in the making of something you enjoy. You can get involved in College life in lots of ways, perhaps by trying your hand behind the College Bar or serving in the shop or toastie bar, joining a club or a committee.
For more information on any of these committees, activities, societies and clubs please see the JCR website.
Middle Common Room
Postgraduate students in college are members of the MCR. There are about 18 residents living in the Postgraduate Centre in College, who share the facilities of the Senior Common Room and organise their own programme of events. They are also associate members of the SCR and are invited to SCR functions. MCR Websute
Senior Common Room
The Senior Common Room (SCR) is a voluntary association of friends of the College. The membership comprises College Officers, College Tutors, University staff and individuals from the wider local community.
The main activity centres around SCR dinners which normally take place fortnightly during term-time. On most occasions there is a guest speaker on a topic of interest. Highlights of the year include the college Musical, preceded by a buffet supper, and a summer barbecue held in the garden of the Principal's house.
Details of the current programme can be found on the SCR website.
We are always interested in recruiting new members. If you are interested, please contact the President or Secretary of the SCR (details on the SCR website) or the Principal.
