The Admissions Refresher training will bring together current undergraduate admissions staff to explore admissions processes pertinent to the new academic year. By the end of the session participants will:

• have an appreciation of the current admissions climate and be able to identify key issues for Durham University;
• have an appreciation of enquiry management, contextual information, potential and merit and the applicant experience;
• have an understanding of the requirements of quick turnaround times, and an understanding of ways that this can be achieved without sacrificing the required fairness and rigour of admissions decisions;
• have an appreciation of college allocation processes;
• be aware of potential future developments in admissions.

This training is compulsory for all admissions staff.

The training will be facilitated by Claire Rasul, Admissions Officer and Dr Andrew Hughes, Chair of the Admissions Sub Committee and Admissions Selector for Chemistry with an introduction from Prof Liz Burd, Deputy Chair of the Education Committee.
