| Description | Staff in colleges and professional support services may be called upon to provide advice to students with serious adverse circumstances affecting their performance about what needs to be provided to Examination Boards. The purpose or aim of this workshop is to inform such staff about how Examination Boards consider serious adverse circumstances and how subsequent decisions are made in relation to progression, award and classification. By the end of the workshop, participants should be more aware of the policies and procedures of Examination Boards and more able to provide effective guidance to students regarding the content and structure of any supporting evidence.
The workshop is suitable for college Senior Tutors, and staff in professional support departments including DUSSD and Counselling Service.
The facilitators will be Professor Liz Burd, Chair of the Quality and Standards Sub-Committee, Mr Sam Dale. Deputy Academic Registrar, and Dr Richard Harrison, Head of the Academic Support Office.
