SD198: Refresher sessions for chairs and secretaries of taught postgraduate boards of examiners - 17 October 2012 12:00

Course information
Course codeSD198
Course titleRefresher sessions for chairs and secretaries of taught postgraduate boards of examiners
Description

These sessions are intended for chairs and secretaries of boards of examiners responsible for taught postgraduate programmes (including the taught element of professional doctorates such as the EdD and DBA) who have previously attended one of the University's training workshops for chairs and secretaries of boards of examiners.  The session will provide continuing support for colleagues undertaking these vital roles, following Senate's decision that all chairs and secretaries should attend an annual refresher session.

The sessions will:

  • update colleagues on changes to University policy and procedure relating to boards of examiners;
  • highlight key issues for chairs and secretaries to be aware of, arising from the consideration of boards of examiners' minutes by Faculty Education Committees and the University's Chief External Examiner;
  • allow colleagues the chance to identify and discuss any issues or questions they might have regarding the operation of boards of examiners.

A sandwich lunch will be provided.

The workshop will be led by Professor Liz Burd, chair of Quality and Standards Sub-Committee with support from Richard Harrison, Head of the Academic Support Office.

Thank you for your booking. Please note that, if you wish to withdraw your place on a workshop, you must do so no less than 4 days before the workshop date.  If you subsequently fail to attend a workshop without good reason, then the Centre for Academic and Researcher Development reserve the right to recover the costs of your place from your department at £50 per half day and £100 for a full day.  If you fail to attend workshops on more than three occasions within a 12 month period, you will be prevented from booking on any other training courses without prior authorisation from CARD.
