Old Testament Research Seminar

Convenor: Professor Walter Moberly
Meetings:
Alternate Tuesdays in term, 4.00-5.30pm, Seminar Room C, Abbey House.

The purpose of the seminar is to enable those researching in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, and related fields, to meet in a congenial and collegial context where issues related to our subject can be explored. The regular format of the seminar is a c. 50 minute paper followed by discussion. Papers are given by staff and postgraduates, trying out ideas from their current research; and by visiting scholars from around the UK and overseas, who give a flavour of the wider context of contemporary research. Sometimes, however, we vary the format: for example, in the summer term we usually read portions of a classic work of Old Testament scholarship. The seminar meets fortnightly in term from 4.15 - 5.45pm on Tuesdays, in Abbey House, Seminar Room C. Recent average attendance is c. 23.

In addition to full-time postgraduates in Old Testament and related areas, for whom this seminar should be a communal forum, MATR students are welcome, as are postgraduates from other fields of study.
