Summer Study - more than a holiday!

Our Summer Study holidays are based along the same lines as the former Summer Academy study breaks held for many years in Durham: many of our guests return year after year for our very special summer schools. All our courses, which are residential, offer expert guidance from experienced course tutors, with a learning environment that goes beyond the classroom on course-related field trips, walks and special access to local attractions.

All Summer Study courses provide participants with a balance of academic study and leisure time, enabling you to learn more about your chosen subject, to enjoy meeting your fellow guests and explore the local area. Where appropriate, Summer Study is enhanced by visits from guest lecturers who offer further insight into the course of study.

We also provide some evening entertainment, from a lively quiz, to perhaps a musical evening or a film show or a talk on the history and heritage of the North East of England.
