Study

A part-time course is ideal if you need to balance studying for a degree with other commitments. We offer part-time courses in a wide range of subjects. By taking more time to complete your studies you could enjoy the best of both worlds.

Learn alongside full-time students

“When redundancy came along I seized the opportunity and enrolled full-time on a BA. But when one year in I found myself having to spend more and more time caring for my elderly mother I decided to give up. The student support officer at my college suggested I try part-time. It took five years to complete but I got there in style with a first class honours degree making, for many, a celebration. My journey continued on to an MA in Social Research Methods and culminates with a PhD. Both of which were funded by the University. “It is never too late nor will it prove too difficult to study for a degree if you really want to do it. If you want to be liberated and inspired but think you might need help and encouragement then come to Durham. You will be welcomed no matter what your age or circumstances. You will not regret it but you may find yourself wanting to stay longer than you first anticipated!”
