Squash

Hello everybody, we are starting a new sports team here at Stephenson College – Squash!! We need to revive the sport here and join the leagues by next year so anyone who plays squash and or is interested in learning squash, please join in.

Squash is a game played generally between 2 people, but can also be played between 3 and 4 people. The object is to hit a squash ball on the wall opposite with a squash racket and trying to make your opponent miss the rebounded shot or for the ball to bounce more than once before being received. Points can only be made on you serve, and success during an opponent’s serve wins you the serve. Scoring is generally 9 points or 15 (in the case where a point is awarded regardless of whose serve it is).

We will be running practice once a week and I will try my best to keep it at a time when it does not clash with other sports (I’m sure most of you must be playing one sport or another). Each session will be for 45 minutes and as of now at the Thornaby Pavilion, so we all will meet up at Stevo Central and split a cab.

The cost of renting out courts will be taken care of by the College, so don’t worry, it’s not going to burn a hole in your pockets.

So please come support your squash team!
