St. Chad's is one of only a handful of Durham Colleges that offer designated postgraduate accommodation. With Trinity Hall and Epiphany House, Chad's provides arguably the best accommodation in Durham, if not the country.

Trinity Hall
Trinity Hall

In October 2003, St. Chad's welcomed twenty-five of its postgraduate students into the College's new postgraduate only residence - Trinity Hall. The College transformed the stunning Grade II listed building from what was a Durham School boarding house into arguably the best postgraduate accommodation of any college in the University. Twenty-three of the student rooms are en suite, all are spacious, furnished to a high standard, and wired for broadband internet access, and a few are handicap accessible. Rooms vary in size and price from 15 sq metres to over 50 sq metres. All the students enjoy access to a common room, dinning area, large kitchen, laundry room, and car park, not to mention a view overlooking the Durham peninsula. Students lease their rooms for a calendar year so can enjoy the quieter side of Durham when the undergraduates go home! Most choose to self-cater their meals, but some opt to purchase meal plans at Main College.

In case you wonder whether things could get out-of-control so far away from the Bailey, you should know that the postgraduates' neighbours are none other than the Principal and his family. They live in lodgings attached to the Hall that provide a larger living space for the five of them.

Epiphany HouseEpiphany House
St Chad's welcomed students and staff to Epiphany House (a.k.a. Number 5) in 2007. The building is a Grade II Listed property in the heart of Durham and underwent a year-long renewal, creating 15 spacious en-suite rooms and offices from the former premises of Swinburne Maddison Solicitors. The building houses undergraduates, postgraduates and staff.

Hallgarth Street
For many years this was the Chaplain’s residence, but now it provides accommodation for 4 postgrads in a great location just 5 minutes walk from College. Occasionally, when demand is high, this building is let out to finalist undergrads.

Main College
If you fancy being at the centre of the action Main College has a postgraduate corridor with rooms for six postgrads. The building contains most college facilities including the library, dining hall, bar and IT room.
