St Mary's College

Choosing St Mary's

We encourage you to nominate a preferred college using one of the UCAS college codes in your UCAS application. The college you choose will not in any way affect your chances of getting an offer from the University; that decision is made by your academic department. If you prefer not to select a college, the University can select one for you on your behalf. This is known as making an open application.

If you would like to choose St Mary's College as your preferred college, please do this by entering the UCAS College Code: "DUR/M" in the appropriate place on your UCAS form.

What happens to your application

We read every UCAS form very carefully and give priority to students who nominate St Mary's College as their first choice college. Every UCAS application cleared by Durham University academic departments and marked 'M' for St Mary's College in the Campus Code box will be looked at seriously and in detail. We also receive UCAS forms passed on from other Colleges. In these cases another College is oversubscribed for a particular subject, but the academic department is still keen to make an offer to a prospective student. Once again, these applications will be looked at very carefully. We also receive some "O", or "no preference" UCAS forms which we also consider carefully.

If you are offered a place at St Mary's College this cannot be transferred to another College.
