Brian who co- wrote and was series Executive Producer for ITVs worldwide hit children’s to be given the opportunity to assist his fellow writers in this way.
“ I will make myself available to answer questions and enquiries and to advise any writer or producer with any query on biblical or theological issues which they may have in creating either a drama, screenplay or book. I have been greatly helped in my work in entertainment by colleagues in the Writers Guild and it is a privilege to be invited to offer help in this way.
Those who have worked with me from all faiths and backgrounds over the past 25 years in creating the scripts which have made Bible stories accessible to so many children have always been sensitive to the content and meaning of the stories and to the needs of the children.
It is heartening that professional writers take religious and theological issues so seriously and I look forward to my new role with them”
It was Brian’s work in children’s religious television which led St John’s College to appoint him visiting fellow in Media and Communication in 1997and led him to conduct the National Survey of Biblical Literacy in 2009. He is now heading up a five year joint project of biblical scholars and writers at Oxford and Durham, “The Bible for All” project.
